Josh. Atheist. Vegan. Adelaide. Fixie. Taken.

The adventures of an opinionated, atheist vegan in a religion based meat eating world.

102 people vegan due to my in your face attitude and counting.

I promised myself I would be good,

but I can’t resist,

Welcome to Josh’s favourite questions from Vegetarian-problems.tumblr.com

Anonymous asked: I once met another vegetarian. After exchanging reasons as to why we changed our lifestyle, she scolded me for my reason - My family has a lot of health issues, most of them dealing with the cardiovascular system. She told me I was “wrong” because I wasn’t doing it for the animals. I was wondering if any other followers had this sort of exchange with another vegetarian or vegan.

Well obviously she doesn’t understand vegetarianism, so.

Vegetarians talking about animal cruelty, oh the irony.

Anonymous asked: My biggest problem with being a vegetarian is when people ask why; it’s the ethics. i don’t think its right to treat animals like that, and then kill them. they have feelings blah blah blah. But then people say “How do you know if plants don’t?” it just gets me so mad

Again the irony of an ethical vegetarian…

alicexi asked: Today is my tenth anniversary of being a vegetarian! That is half my life (:

Congratulations! That’s amazing, good on you! You should definitely celebrate and throw yourself a little party.

No, you shouldn’t. If you can go half your life without once asking yourself “actually, where does my milk and cheese come from?” then you should probably re-think your life choices.

sadwich asked: I’m a vegetarian and I LOVE the zoo.

respect respect

I don’t think I need to explain how this is wrong…

Anonymous asked: Ever make that post defending vegetariaism and how it supports the rape torture and murder of milk cows and hens, not to mention the veal industry? (:

I’m not sure if I mentioned that I would make a post stating that or if you are trying to make some sort argument against vegetarianism, but either way that smiley face is distractingly creepily misplaced.

Unable to comment on the dairy industry because even the owner of the blog knows that consuming dairy is wrong, but isn’t game enough to take the plunge to Veganism.

stopiturbeinmean asked: there are radical believers in every group, religion, or organization all through out history. i say this because though there are people who act rediculous and make peta seem like a joke to the rest of the world, peta is not all bad, the basic deep down purpose of peta is to try and raise awareness and stop animal cruelty. peta is not the enemy here, it is crazy people who act radically and do stupid and rediculous things under the name of peta that are bad.

Well typically those “crazy people” are like, members of PETA, and the organization itself is just awful. However I think you’re right! PETA isn’t the enemy at all, just a completely off-target attempt at being an ally.

wrong.

In 2011, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) behaved in a regrettably consistent manner: it euthanized the overwhelming majority of dogs and cats that it accepted into its shelters. Out of 760 dogs impounded, they killed 713, arranged for 19 to be adopted, and farmed out 36 to other shelters (not necessarily “no kill” ones). As for cats, they impounded 1,211, euthanized 1,198, transferred eight, and found homes for a grand total of five. PETA also took in 58 other companion animals — including rabbits. It killed 54 of them.

PETA is not based around the protection of animals, it is about making money the easiest way possible.

Wrong.

Hitler wasn’t a vegetarian at all. Consider the historical facts:

• Biographers who wrote about Hitler (and who knew him quite well on a personal basis) openly describe his love for Bavarian sausages and game pie (“game” meaning wild meat from birds and other creatures).

• Hitler’s own chef openly talked about Hitler’s love for stuffed pigeon.

• In none of Hitler’s speeches or writing did Hitler state he was a vegetarian or speak in favor of vegetarianism.

• Hitler was regularly given injections of a protein serum made from the testicles of a bull — not exactly a treatment that would be tolerated by vegetarians.

• None of Hitler’s lieutenants were vegetarians, nor was vegetarianism promoted in any way in the Nazi party.

singing-melody asked: I hate people who think that those of us who consume eggs and dairy are not “true animal lovers.” I’m sorry, but that’s not true. The eggs are unfertilized, so no chicks would’ve ever formed. There’s a method (called candling) where you can check to see if an egg is fertilized or not, but it requires a special tool. And with dairy, it depends on WHERE your milk comes from. A small scale dairy farm (like the one at my uni) would most likely treat their cows better than a large scale dairy farm.

Wrong, the egg industry kills million of male chicks every year, only because they are male and can not bare eggs. Free range, organic or caged after 2 years when they are slowing in egg production they all end up the same way… Dead.

Just because the cows are treated better in a smaller farm still does not give you the right to invade their privacy, rape them, steal their calf and then continue to steal their milk. That milk was produced for the calf, not for you.

subdivine asked: Am I the only one who gets people saying that vegetarians don’t deserve respect or that we’re not as good as other people? I know people are joking when they say this, but it still really pisses me off.

If I’ve ever said this to you, I’m truly sorry I should have made it more clear, I’m not joking.

It’s not a problem, we’re just trying to fix you.

“Animal Lovers” who consume dairy, it’s not just about the flesh.

EDIT: Vegetarians in general.

Not one of the “Vegetarian perks” was in any way related to the protection or well-being of animals, not a single one. They are all based on the selfish side, either saving money, not getting fat or picking on your friends meals.

If you vegetarians are “making a difference” or “almost like you vegans” then one would think that animal protection would make it somewhere on the Perks list.

This is why i have such a big thing against vegetarians,

you’re all selfish. There is absolutely no justifiable reason to consume dairy, it is a disgusting animal by product that does not need to be in your system at all.

How are we selfish? we’re helping the animals?

How? because giving up that cheese would be “to hard” or “I just love cheese”, “You don’t even hurt the chickens when getting eggs” “milk isn’t even that bad”

every single one of these is a selfish act and I will not give anyone any credit for being vegetarian.

I’m well prepared for all the hate I’m going to receive for this.

Haterz gon’ Hate.
